Skates or
Inlines?

People always ask, should I begin on inline or regular roller skates? We suggest beginning on regular skates and then progressing to inlines if you really wish to. Regular or 'quad' skates as they are known now have a wider balance point and are easier to learn. If you have been an ice skater all your life, you might find inline skates easier to begin with.

Did you know..

Roller skating competition is similar to ice skating competition and participates in the Pan American Games and the World Games. Speed, Hockey and Artistic Skating is done all over the world and our governing body is constantly striving to make it part of the summer Olympics.

Planet Skate is Orbit Skate Center's new Family Skate Club. The Club has been created to allow families and singles to have additional time at the rink for skating practice, as well as small group and private lesson time when the rink isn't open to the public. The purpose of the club is to foster excellence in roller skating while allowing an individual to move along at their own pace.

The staff of Planet Skate are skaters and teachers with a vast amount of experience in skating and teaching. During practice times, there will be a staff member on hand to help guide members as they work on skills learned during class time.

Memberships in the Club includes discounts to public skating sessions, pro shop purchases, birthday parties and private sessions open to Club members only.

Annual membership - Single $50
Family (up to 5 immediate family members) $90

Semi-annual membership - Single $35

Monthly practice fees - Single $50, Family up to 5 $85. Monthly fees are paid to attend unlimited practice times. They are not required, but are encouraged to further a member's skating abilities. Members can pay on a per session basis of $8 per person.

If you wish private lessons, it is available at an additional cost, speak to one of the staff to set that up. Small group lessons will be available as well. If you want a family lesson, we can do that for you.

Roller Skating has many paths, whether you enjoy session skating or want to learn one of the disciplines that focuses on a specific type of skating like jam skating, dance skating, speed skating etc. Our teachers have a background of competing and winning in most if not all of the areas.
