I decided to hunt around and see if anybody had any pages up about the
Axle, and found your site. I was one of the younger skaters, I have
just
turned 30. I skated in the Axle (as we all knew it then) religiously
from
1984 until the night it closed. I was there on closing night and
remember
it well.... One of my friends met her now-husband there, when she was
14
or so. He was a box-boy and I found his name, Ken Crimaldi. I now
live in
California, but my friends and I still remember the Axle very very
fondly. We were so angry when it closed that (as young teenagers) we
fantasized about protests, etc., but it still closed.
Anyway, if you want a blurb to use on your site, feel free to use the
portion above, or I will write a better one. :) Many thanks for
keeping
the memories alive, I wish I had been around many years ago when it was
first open!!

Jeffery Mills
Just went though the website and wanted to say thanks for the memories, My name is Jeffery Mills and I went to the Axle (Hub) from 1982 - 1986 (three nights a week). I hold the memory of the Axle very dear to my heart because its were I met my wife Jennifer Latuszek.
We have been married now for 10 years and have 3 beautiful children and live in
Carol Stream, IL. If you have any information about a reunion or anything about
the class of 1980's I would love to talk to some old friends. I will continue to
check the website everyday, you can also e-mail me.
thanks again, Jeff

Frank,
I was going through some old boxes of my things today and came
across my
old skates. (I still can't bring myself to give them up after all of
these
years.) Well, something made me check to see if anyone had created a
website
dedicated to those days and as luck would have it I ran into your
sight. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
The walk I am taking down memory lane is wonderful. I was only an
employee
from 1982 - 1985 but they were some of the best years of my life. It
is a
shame that my children will never know the joy of having such a safe,
respectable, and fun place to spend their time. I know that I have my
love
of roller skating to thank for all of the trouble that I didn't get into
in my
high school days. I believe that I have quite a few pictures from those
few
years. I will be certain to send them to you soon.
Again, Thank you.
